Dental implants
Replacing one or more missing teeth with an implant-supported crown.
An implant is a small titanium or zirconia post placed in the jawbone that supports a crown, bridge or denture. Whether implants are suitable depends on bone volume, gum health and general health, which a dentist assesses with an examination and imaging.
What to expect
Video consultation and review of recent X-rays if you have them
Clinical examination and 3D imaging at the clinic
Implant placement under local anaesthesia
Healing period, usually at home
Second visit for the final crown or bridge
Before you decide
- Healing times vary from person to person; the dentist sets your schedule.
- Smoking and some medical conditions can affect healing.
- Follow-up checks can be arranged with your local dentist.
